Clinical Research Organization
AlphaNet has been instrumental in improving our understanding of Alpha-1 by helping in the management of research studies. Since its founding, AlphaNet has been involved in many studies of new drugs for the treatment of Alpha-1. AlphaNet’s role is that of a Contract Research Organization or CRO. A CRO works under contract with a researcher or pharmaceutical company to perform certain specific tasks needed to facilitate completion of a study. AlphaNet’s services have included recruiting investigators, evaluating and initiating an investigator’s research facility before a study begins, training personnel and nurses in the use and administration of study medications, checking collected data for accuracy and compliance with FDA regulations, biostatistical analysis, evaluation of safety issues, and quality assurance of paperwork and data.
AlphaNet performs these services to further research in Alpha-1, ensure its quality, and to generate funds that can be used to pay expenses and support the Alpha-1 Foundation and other programs within the Alpha-1 community.
