Hello, my name is Annette Parslow and I would like to introduce myself as your AlphaNet Coordinator.
I currently live in Florida with my husband. We moved from Rhode Island in the early months of 2014 shortly after I was diagnosed in 2013 with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.
My Alpha-1 journey began when I started noticing an increase in my shortness of breath with any type of exertion. Prior to my diagnosis, I was hospitalized on several occasions with respiratory issues. I was originally diagnosed with COPD and asthma, but the treatments were not effective. I was later referred to a specialist and underwent testing where it was discovered that I had Alpha-1.
Shortly after I was diagnosed, I began augmentation therapy, and I am very happy to say my health soon stabilized, and my respiratory episodes significantly decreased.
I had often thought about becoming an AlphaNet Coordinator. Since I was diagnosed, any Coordinator I communicated with has been outstanding and has provided me great empathy for not only for me but for my family as well. AlphaNet provided me with a sense of calm and reassurance during the various stages of my Alpha-1 journey.
I look forward to speaking with you and providing you with that same sense of calm and reassurance — remember you are not alone! Please reach anytime and I’ll gladly provide you with the resources and tools specific to you!
