Robert "Rob" Colvin

Hi, my name is Rob Colvin and I would like to introduce myself as your AlphaNet Coordinator.

I live in Cicero, New York with my wife and daughter. Currently, I am on the Cross-Country staff at Onondaga Community College. I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency in 2023. It wasn’t until I was 50 years old that I started experiencing a decline in my breathing. I thought this was just an age thing. I was once an All-American Cross-Country runner in my youth. After some serious self-reflection, I brought this concern to my doctor, who ran a few tests and a CAT scan. The bloodwork confirmed that I had Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

I love serving other Alphas and find that it brings me great joy. We all feel vulnerable and unsure of the unexpected, but we know that knowledge is power.
